Something Just a Little Different
In this novel, an unusual circumstance brings together a white male college dropout who has recently returned to school and a biracial female restaurant employee who was never encouraged to pursue a college degree. Together they put the neglect and indifference of parents behind them to achieve success in their very different endeavors. The young man studies literature, the young woman astronomy. While the path is not always smooth, their support for each other remains strong during both accomplishments and setbacks.
The story takes place in southwestern Michigan where employment experiences present a series of unique challenges. The plot evolves in ways that result in the woman becoming the main character, a role filled by the man early on.
All characters are fictional as are the places where they are employed. All universities they attend are real.
